For educators with full and limited schedules, needing to keep abreast of their graduate certification requirements, Dr. Charles Jackard announces a new offering of graduate workshops and video correspondence courses. The top level curriculum is developed to address the challenges that face the classroom teacher and school administrator. The participant can attain re-certification, progress toward career development and advancement goals and at the same time assimilate a practicum that can be applied to a classroom or staff situation.

These course topics, created and presented by Jackard, delve headlong into theory based on the way the world is in America’s schools today. The courses combine current research instruments and methodology with strong, proven practical application that immediately adds to an educator’s array of teaching and managing techniques.

Jackard has a nationwide reputation as a classroom educator, school principal and education consultant, with emphasis on difficult students and human relations. He has more than 30 years experience in both urban and suburban school districts, specializing in alternative education for at-risk students.

ESW 972.02 Safety & Security in Our Schools & Society II
This course is designed to instruct educators in theoretical foundations and practical application of effective strategies to deal with safety and security. This course will help educators understand the implications of alcohol and drugs in our schools and society. Strategies will be designed with the real world in mind. Human beings cannot function properly when safety and security is an issue.
(2 or 3 credits) Course meets: June 7, 6-9 p.m., June 8 and 9, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Ending Date: July 7


ESW 973.02 Safety & Security in Our Schools & Society III

ESW 975.02 Fear & Violence in Our Schools & Society II
Fear and violence continue to increase in schools and society. Educators, students and parents deserve safe and secure schools. Zero-based tolerance is removing students at an alarming rate. Is this the answer to the problem? This course will explore strategies that promote a better understanding of individuals who are or who have been members of gangs and cults. This course will provide participants an opportunity to look at the role fear and violence play in our schools and society.
(2 or 3 credits) Course meets: June 14, 6-9 p.m., June 15 and 16, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Ending Date: July 14
