Goals of the Course:

  1. Explore strategies that will assist educators in maintaining self-control and orderly conduct in schools.

  2. Identify and study characteristics of troubled students.

  3. Identify and learn new techniques of working with troubled students.

  4. Develop effective listening and communicating skills.


Requirements of Course:

Participants will be required to contribute a minimum of 15 hours per credit hour.

A     Grade          Complete book report from text.

B     Grade          Complete ten reflection papers from text.

C     Grade          Complete seven  reflection papers from text.

D     Grade          Complete three reflection papers from text.

F      Grade          Complete no work


Reflection Papers:   1-2 pages

Basically a statement or opinion regarding a chapter in the text.  The text has twenty-four chapters (including the Forward).

The Following should be included:

  1. Author, title, source, date, and pages.

  2. Message of the chapter.

  3. Reactions to the chapter.

  4. General value of the chapter.

  5. General statements regarding the chapter.

Book Report:   7-9 pages

  1. Title page with your name.

  2. Text of book report.

ALL FINAL PAPERS MUST BE TYPED

Papers Due:

Five weeks after completing enrollment form.
